DPW Foundation

The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation (or “DPW Foundation”) is the major philanthropic organization for The Washington Companies and the Washington family. They selected Monument Studio to handle the design and development for their new, custom nonprofit WordPress website.

DPW Foundation previously had an outdated and bland website that did not put their mission on display with the bright and sunny feeling that the organization strives to maintain. They wanted a website that showcased the work they do and provides information about the grants & scholarships they provide—all while giving a fun, warm, welcoming, and modern aesthetic. They have awarded over $430MM in Grants since they started the foundation in 1988, and they wanted their online presence to follow suit in quality with the dedication they have in their mission of improving young lives.

After a recent rebrand, we adopted a beautifully imagined style guide and print brochure that had a very strong & vibrant impact—it was our job to translate that content and aesthetic to a digital medium. It was imperative in the website design that we make it about the people that the organization helps, as opposed to the organization itself. Thanks to the great marketing team at DPW Foundation, we were able to finalize the website design relatively quickly.

Once the website design was formally approved, we created a custom WordPress theme, with an Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) integration for a better Content Management System (CMS) experience. The custom theme leverages TailwindCSS for easy code maintainability.
